POPPY APPEAL
This is The Royal British Legion’s annual fundraising project. Poppies,
symbol of the World War One battlefields of Flanders and emblem of The Royal British
Legion, are sold and worn with pride in remembrance of the fallen.
WELFARE
The Branch provides welfare to all serving and Ex-Service personnel from
the British Forces, whether they be members of The Royal British Legion
or not, through its Service Committee. Service Committee members are
always ready , when made aware of circumstances, to visit the sick, or to
help out in times of difficulty or crisis. All welfare matters are dealt with
discreetly and in the strictest confidence.
REMEMBRANCE
The Branch maintains strong activity in Remembrance ceremonies. There are
Commonwealth War Cemeteries throughout The Netherlands and services
are take palce at local cemeteries every November. The Branch also
participates in the Dutch ceremonies to celebrate the liberation of
cities, towns, and villages throughout The Netherlands in 1944 and 1945 and the Victory in Europe
in 1945. On these occasions, any British contingent plays a prominent role
and the Holland Branch is proud to represent the
British Forces. We are frequently joined by visiting parties of Old
Comrades’ Associations.
In keeping with the democratic principles of The Royal British Legion, the Holland Branch is managed by an annually elected committee.
